Computer Automation of Business Processes

The paper presents the Workflow management system as an established technology for automation and controlling of business processes. The evolution of business process management systems is shortly given. The architecture and its main components is described. As an example for application of Workflow Management Systems is outlined the i-Flow Interstage Business platform.
